The bottom section is mainly composed of the qualifiers table where all the selections that match the different filters (defined in the middle section) are listed.
You can select/unselect all the selections by clicking the button . Each horse can also be individually selected or unselected by clicking on the check box in the first column
.
Let us now look in detail at the contents of this table.
Races & Runners
- Events
It is in this column that the name of the event is indicated, which is composed of the time, the track, the distance and the type of race. - Nº
This is the horse’s number. - Horse
This is the horse’s name. A horse name written in green means that the horse has won the race of the selected date.
By right-clicking on the horse’s name, you will open the horse’s card (see Horse Information). By hovering over the horse name, a pop-up will display the next result of the horse (only available the day after the race), with its BSP, minimum in-play odds, drop% and drop ticks. - Age
This is the age of the horse. - Form
This is the current form of the horse (the last digit represents the last race). - Last
This is the number of days since last run. - FC
This is the Betfair forecast price (decimal format). - Naps
This is the number of Naps given to the horse by horse racing tipsters. - J
This is the Jockey column. The name of the jockey is displayed by hovering over the column and the Strike Rate (Hot) or Rides Since Last Win (Cold).
The colored square indicates whether it is a jockey in top form or not:Hot Jockey: Jockey with rides at today’s meeting that have a 15% or greater strike rate in the last month.
Cold Jockey: Jockey with rides at today’s meeting that are on a losing run.
Other Jockey: Jockey neithor Hot nor Cold.
Jockey with only one race at today’s meeting.
- T
This is the Trainer column. The name of the trainer is displayed by hovering over the column and the Strike Rate (Hot) or Runners Since Last Win (Cold).
The colored square indicates whether it is a trainer in top form or not:Hot Trainer: Trainer with runners at today’s meeting that have a 15% or greater strike rate in the last month.
Cold Trainer: Trainer with runners at today’s meeting that are on a losing run.
Other Trainer: Trainer neithor Hot nor Cold.
Trainer with only one race at today’s meeting.
- Pace
This is the pace value of the horse. The higher the number, the higher chance the horse is most likely to get and keep the lead. A pace equal or greater than 7 will be displayed on a green background.
The statistics (LAST 3 RACES and ALL RACES sections) are calculated taking into account the general rules Same Track and Same Distance. Thus, if the Track option is activated, only races run on the same track or a track with the same layout will be taken into account in the calculation.
Only races of the same type are used for the calculation of the statistics. For example, if the horse has both flat and jump races in its history and the race of the day is a flat race, only the flat races will be considered in the calculation.
The profits and losses in these columns do not take into account the Betfair commission.
Last 3 Races
This section contains the statistics of the last 3 races of the horse (or less if the horse has run less than 3 races).
A bold number means that the value is higher than the corresponding data (ALL RACES).
A red number means that the profit/loss is negative. So if the number in the DB column is red, it means that if you had bet the DOB on that horse in the last 3 races, you would be in loss.
For example, if the number is 33, it means that the horse has completed the DOB 1 out of 3 races. Knowing that the DOB wins the equivalent of your BACK bet, if your bet is £10, you would have lost £10 (One win at £10 + two losses at £10).
List of columns:
- DB
This is the percentage of races where DOB has been achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful DOBs, the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - TB
This is the percentage of races where TROB has been achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful TROBs, the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - HB
This is the percentage of races where HDOB has been achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful HDOBs, the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - A%
This is the average percentage drop achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at this %), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - D%
This is the average deviation percentage drop achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at this %), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - AT
This is the average drop in ticks achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at these ticks), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - DT
This is the average deviation drop in ticks achieved by the horse (last 3 races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at these ticks), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races.
All Races
This section contains the statistics of all the races of the horse (based on selected data period – “Analyze data from”).
A bold number means that the value is higher than the corresponding data (LAST 3 RACES).
A red number means that the profit/loss is negative. So if the number in the DB column is red, it means that if you had bet the DOB on that horse in the all the races of the chosen period (“Analyze data from”), you would be in loss.
The data in the ALL RACES columns can have a different background colour:
- White: When the result of the race is not yet known (updated every morning).
- Grey: When the bet was not possible because the odds (Betfair SP) of the horse did not allow it. For example if the BSP of the horse is 1.8, then the DOB column will be in greyed because to bet the DOB, the odds of the horse must be greater than or equal to 2.02.
- Green: When the horse has achieved sucessfully the relevant bet, for example DOB in the case of the DB column.
- Red: When the horse has NOT achived successfully the bet concerned.
List of columns:
- NbR
This is the number of races matching the General Rules that are used to calculate ALL RACES statistics. - DB

Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at these ticks), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - Best
This is the best percentage drop (in terms of profit/loss) achieved by the horse (all races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at this %), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races.
Bet Tip
This section contains the ratings and predictions generated by HR BACK2LAY.
First of all, let’s see what the combo box on the right of BET TIP is.
It is very important because it will directly influence the list of selections. By choosing ALL, HRB2L will choose the most probable and profitable bet for you. On the other hand, if you choose another value (DOB/TROB/HDOB/BEST/AVGP/DEVP/AVGT/DEVT), it will calculate the best selection corresponding to the DOB for example if you chose the DOB option. This selection can differ from the ALL selection. Indeed, a horse being considered for example as the best TROB opportunity for a race will not necessarily be the best DOB opportunity.
- Rating
This rating is calculated by HR BACK2LAY. It ranges from 1 to 5, represented by one or more solid stars (in black). - Bet
This column contains the HRB2L predictions for each horse. If no bet seems more relevant than another, the letter “X” will be displayed (the option Display X bets and NS must be ticked to be able to display them).
Please note that this is only an indication, based on the statistics described above. There is nothing to stop you from betting on the DOB when the horse’s prediction is TROB if you are more comfortable betting this type of bet. - Stake
This is the stake relating to the prediction of HRB2L. This stake will take various values depending on the Bet Tip Stake you have set in the General Settings. If you set it to Kelly Stake (default value), the software will calculate the stake using the Kelly Criteria. On the contrary, if you select Fixed Stake, the software will always use the same stake corresponding to the Fixed Stake value (General Settings). - P/L
This is the profit/loss of the bet, only visible the day after the races when the Betfair Historical Database is updated.
- NbR
This is the number of races matching the General Rules that are used to calculate ALL RACES statistics. - DB
This is the percentage of races where DOB has been achieved by the horse (all races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful DOBs, the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - TB
This is the percentage of races where TROB has been achieved by the horse (all races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful TROBs, the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - HB
This is the percentage of races where the HDOB has been achieved by the horse (all races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful HDOBs, the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - A%
This is the average percentage drop achieved by the horse (all races).
Hovering over this column displays the number of successful trades (at this %), the number of races and the associated profit/loss if you had bet on these races. - D%
This is the average deviation percentage drop achieved by the horse (all races).

Paul
I am getting great use from the software but I am still a little confused by which figures to use for certain bet types namely ; best , avgp , devp , and avgt . which column numbers do i use for each bet please ?
Laurence Bettingdev
Paul,
For all the calculations, we strongly recommend the use of the HR B2L calculator to get the amounts and odds to place.
BEST:
Use the value of the column “Best”.
e.g. If 80 is the number in this column, this means that the lay bet should be placed at the value of the back bet price minus 80%.
DOB/TROB/HDOB:
No need to use any columns as the bets are always the same. e.g. DOB, the lay bet is half the back bet price with double stake.
AVGP:
Use the value of the column “A%”.
e.g. If 55 is the number in this column, this means that the lay bet should be placed at the value of the back bet price minus 55%.
AVGP:
Use the value of the column “A%”.
e.g. If 55 is the number in this column, this means that the lay bet should be placed at the value of the back bet price minus 55%.
DEVP:
Use the value of the column “D%”.
e.g. If 45 is the number in this column, this means that the lay bet should be placed at the value of the back bet price minus 45%.
AVGT:
Use the value of the column “AT”.
e.g. If 53 is the number in this column, this means that the lay bet should be placed at the value of the back bet price minus 53 Betfair ticks.
DEVT:
Use the value of the column “DT”.
e.g. If 88 is the number in this column, this means that the lay bet should be placed at the value of the back bet price minus 88 Betfair ticks.
