We have looked broadly at the results of G2M with different Volume% settings, Prices or Odds Range, Tracks and Day of the Week.
Now even re-running with our adjusted settings we find that overall, we are still making a small loss. In addition, we must consider the practicality of choosing settings like Price/Odds and even a setting like Volume% <90% which can exhibit late changes in races with a lower holding near our selected minimum market volume of $1999.
So, what strategy should we use to overcome these difficulties?
1. We can look at the Selections Odds Rating, the Selections Volume Rating and the Selections Both Rating numbers.
2. We can look at the Rating Order/Rank for each of these.
3. We can consider being more selective in our Races by eliminating more Tracks that do not show profits using our settings or we can set a higher Minimum Market Volume, so we are only working on races that carry more Punter’s money although that does not always relate to “smart” money.
4. We can consider different Scanning Times for taking our readings and placing our Bet.
5. We can introduce Stop Profit or Stop Loss rules.
6. We can look at different Race Distances and different Grades of Races.
The next question that arises is in what order should we look at each of our variables and so the order of fixing our final settings.
After logging more than 80,000 results and running many different combinations in my Excel database I still cannot say with certainty which are the most influential criteria variables in order of profitability however my “gut feel” for the top three are….
- Selection Volume%
- Price/Odds
- Rating Order
But that leaves many other criteria yet to be fully evaluated and implemented. As a matter of interest, I will paste a sample of the output from my Excel database broken into three parts for formatting here.

Note that there are still some improvements to be made as RVOLRNK i.e., RatedVolume Rank refers to the rank of the Volume Rating and not to the rank of the Volume% for example.
If we all continue sharing ideas and developments and Paul and the Bettingdev boys improve and implement them we will have a nice little earner running 24/7.
Until the next Blog – Keep winning….Mike.
