If you are discovering HR Best Times for the first time, you can download a real example of a daily Excel file generated by HRBT. This allows you to immediately see the structure, columns, and depth of data produced by the software.
What HRBT gives you at a glance
Race context, runner details, pace indicators, market and tip signals, suitability ratings, performance scoring, and one combined HRBT Rating to rank the field.
Suitability ratings
Track, distance, going, surface, class, weight, handicap.
Scoring framework
Performance, suitability, speed, intent, market.
Market angles
OR value, weight value, headgear, trainer and jockey strength.
Proprietary odds
HRBT FC odds and ranking, aligned to the HRBT framework.
Built for flexible, independent use
HRBT allows you to show or hide any column directly from the interface, so you can focus only on the data that matters to your own approach. Whether you want a minimal ranking view or the full 175-column dataset, HRBT adapts instantly.

No third-party software or accounts are required. HRBT includes its own Excel-style reader, and all market data — including Betfair SP results — is retrieved directly from our servers. No Betfair account is needed.

There are many ways to use HRBT
You can use HRBT as a complete research bible, or keep it simple and start with one core approach. Many users begin by ranking the field with the HRBT Rating, then combining it with suitability signals, pace context, and market intent to build a repeatable method. HRBT is also ideal for Win and Place markets, and can support structured exotics such as Exacta and Tricast style combinations where available.
Start simple: HRBT Rank 1–3
Add filters: Suitability and Speed
Confirm intent: travel, solo trainer/jockey, class moves
Market edge: OR value, weight value, headgear
Example: strong results can come from the HRBT Rating alone
The real-world results shown below illustrate how the HRBT Rating alone can be sufficient to structure profitable approaches. In this example, the top-ranked HRBT runners finished in the exact finishing order, enabling high-return Exacta and Trifecta combinations without the need for complex filtering.
Documentation and support
HRBT includes a complete user manual, accessible directly from the software, and we publish short video guides to show how to use the main features effectively. Technical support remains available if you have any questions.

Automation & spreadsheet compatibility

✅ Automatic Betfair SP results

Betfair SP Win and Place data are automatically retrieved and added to both the HRBT spreadsheet and its internal database. This allows you to review historical performance, verify strategies, and work with complete post-race data without manual input.

✅ No Excel licence required

HR Best Times includes its own embedded Excel-style reader. You do not need Microsoft Excel installed or licensed. The interface behaves like a real spreadsheet, with tabs, filters, live updates, sorting, and full export capabilities.

Real-world results using HRBT Rating

The screenshots below show a real Grade 1 Chase where the top three runners ranked by HRBT Rating finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the exact order. No complex filtering was required. The HRBT Rating alone was sufficient to structure profitable combinations.

Exacta and Trifecta result
Exacta & Trifecta example using HRBT Rank
(illustrated by both screenshots)

The first two HRBT-rated runners finished 1st and 2nd, returning €383.90 on a €1 Exacta. The top three HRBT-rated runners finished in exact order, returning €1,632.70 on a €1 Trifecta.
Real-world results using HRBT Rating
Since the first two days following launch, the top 3 HRBT-rated horses alone have already produced 35 winners, with Betfair SP prices ranging from 1.40 up to 20.88.

This highlights that HRBT is not limited to combination betting only. The HRBT Rating can be used directly for Win and Place strategies, while also providing a solid structural base for Exacta, Tricast, and other exotic approaches when available.

Changelog

***Version 1.3.1 (Released on 08/10/2026)***
Bug fixes:
◎ Fixed a missing option in the selection generation process for the two New Generation systems:
(NG #01) HRBT Dual Vector System [DVS]
(NG #02) HRBT Favourite Pressure Lay System [FPL]
Users can now generate selections for each sub-system individually (e.g. Vector Prime, Vector Pace, etc.), or for the complete system, as originally intended.

◎ Corrected the Jock. P% and Train. P% columns in the Connections data (Jockey-Horse and Trainer-Horse).
These columns now include wins in their place percentages (W% + P% Only), rather than displaying only the percentage of places excluding wins.

***Version 1.3.0 (Released on 07/10/2026)***
Bug fixes:
◎ Fixed an issue in the Backtesting Module where Betfair commission could be calculated separately on each winning selection instead of on the net positive result of the complete market.
Commission is now applied correctly at market level, matching Betfair’s actual settlement method when multiple selections from the same system are present in the same race.

◎ Corrected the HRBT database data for 28 February 2026 and 28 March 2026.

New features:
◎ 2 new GHBT New Generation Betting Systems
(NG #01) HRBT Dual Vector System [DVS]
A premium WIN-market BACK portfolio combining two complementary strategies designed to identify potential value across different runner profiles.

(NG #02) HRBT Favourite Pressure Lay System [FPL]
A premium WIN-market LAY portfolio combining three complementary strategies focused on identifying shorter-priced runners whose market strength may not be fully justified by their overall race profile.

These are the first systems developed using our New Generation research and validation methodology, with increased emphasis on robustness, repeatability, independent validation, controlled drawdown and resistance to historical overfitting.

HRBT v1.3.0 or later must be installed to generate selections for these systems.
More information on our website.

Backtesting Module improvements:
◎ The Backtesting Module now includes several new statistical indicators to provide a much deeper analysis of system performance.

ROI
Return on Investment has been added to the Backtesting Module.
ROI shows the total historical profit as a percentage of the starting betting bank, providing an additional way to evaluate the overall growth produced by a system during the selected backtesting period.

Expected Winners
The theoretical number of winning bets expected from the Betfair Starting Prices of all selections.
For BACK systems, the implied probability of each selection is calculated from its BFSP.
For LAY systems, the corresponding probability of a successful lay is used.
This allows the actual performance of a system to be compared directly with what the market prices would statistically imply.

Actual Winners
The actual number of winning bets produced by the system during the selected backtesting period.

Difference
Shows the difference between Actual Winners and Expected Winners.
A positive value means the system produced more winners than would have been expected from the market-implied probabilities.

Chi-Square
A statistical measure of how different the observed results are from the results that would normally be expected.
A higher Chi-Square value indicates a greater difference between the system’s actual results and the market-implied expectation.

Z-Score
Measures how far the system’s actual number of winners is above or below the statistically expected number.
A positive Z-Score means the system produced more winners than expected.
The further the Z-Score is from zero, the more statistically significant the difference becomes.

Confidence
Displays the statistical confidence associated with the Z-Score.
Higher values indicate stronger statistical evidence that the difference between Actual Winners and Expected Winners is unlikely to be due to random variation alone.
For example, a Confidence value of 99.99% represents an exceptionally strong historical statistical result.
Please note that Confidence measures the statistical significance of historical results. It does not represent the probability that a system will be profitable in the future.
These new statistical tools complement the existing Profit/Loss, Yield, Strike Rate, Average Odds and detailed betting history information, making it easier to evaluate not only how profitable a system has been, but also the statistical strength and consistency behind its historical performance.

has context menu
***Version 1.2.8 (Released on 24/09/2026)***
Bug fixes:
◎ Fixed an issue where Last By could incorrectly display 0 when the horse’s Last Result was NR, PU or another non-finishing result. The field will now remain blank when no valid value is available.
◎ Fixed an issue where Class Mvt could incorrectly display “-” when Last Class was CL, typically when the previous race was in Ireland and no UK class comparison was available. The field will now remain blank in these cases.

Data improvements:
◎ Improved the data processing to ensure several fields that could previously remain blank are now populated whenever the relevant data is available, including: NAPs, OR Rk, HW OR, Last Prize M., P.M. Mvt, Last By, Avg By.
***Version 1.2.7 (Released on 26/08/2026)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where the Official System “(#1) HRBT Vanguard System [VGS]” failed to generate daily selections due to changes in race age group formatting from the upstream data provider.
***Version 1.2.6 (Released on 21/08/2026)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where the Place Market backtesting correction introduced in v1.2.2 was not working correctly, causing Win Market prices to still be used when Place Market was selected.
***Version 1.2.5 (Released on 20/08/2026)***
New feature:
Premier Betting System: (#2) HRBT Race Cipher System [RCS]
Version 1.2.5 MUST be installed to generate the selections of this system
***Version 1.2.2 (Released on 15/07/2026)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where the Backtesting Module failed to load Place Market prices and incorrectly populated Win Market prices instead when selected.
***Version 1.2.1 (Released on 12/07/2026)***
New feature:
◎ System Documentation Shortcut: Added a direct access button within the interface to instantly open the documentation guide explaining how to export selections and import them into MALBOT.
***Version 1.2.0 (Released on 11/07/2026)***
New feature:
◎ Official Systems Tab: This new addition marks a significant leap forward, offering you the opportunity to purchase and integrate profitable betting systems directly within HR Best Times.

Premier Betting System: (#1) HRBT Vanguard System [VGS]
Version 1.2.0 must be installed to generate the selections of this system
***Version 1.1.2 (Released on 13/04/2026)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where bookmaker results (live update via the Results button) were not updated correctly.

***Version 1.1.1 (Released on 09/04/2026)***
Bug fix:

◎ Fixed an issue where exported selections for Malbot could use an incorrect price in Custom Systems when HRBT FC was used as a condition.
***Version 1.1.0 (Released on 09/04/2026)***
New features:

◎ New My Custom Systems tab to display and generate selections from your custom systems. You can also backtest them using the HRBT backtesting module.

◎ You can export the selections of your Custom Systems and use the generated text file to automate your betting with Malbot or any other betting bot.

You can now have your own strategy automated by ordering a Custom System. We program your system according to your rules and integrate it into your HRBT account. It will then appear in the new My Custom Systems tab, and only you will have access to it.
***Version 1.0.3 (Released on 29/01/2026)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where the “Pace Rk” and “RPR Rk” columns were highlighted in orange when values were different from 1, 2, or 3, instead of only when ranked in the top 3.

New feature:
◎ Added new columns: “Glob Rtg”, “Glob Rank”, and “Glob Rk +/-“, which aggregate the Track, Distance, Weight, Going, Surface, Class, and Handicap ratings.
***Version 1.0.2 (Released on 30 December 2025)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where clicking on certain columns in the HR Best Times Columns tabs (1/2 and 2/2) caused different, unrelated columns to be hidden instead of the selected ones.
***Version 1.0.1 (Released on 29 December 2025)***
Bug fix:
◎ Fixed an issue where the daily Excel database was correctly imported on launch but not automatically displayed, requiring the user to close and relaunch HR Best Times.
***Version 1.0 (Released on 29 December 2025)***

It’s good but a bit hard to navigate

    (0) (0)
    • Thanks for your review. HR Best Times contains a very large amount of information, so we understand that the interface can feel a little overwhelming at first.

The software can be simplified considerably by showing only the columns you actually want to use and hiding the others. You can therefore create anything from a very simple view based around the main HRBT Rating and rankings to a much more detailed analysis setup.

The easiest way to simplify HRBT is to customise the race spreadsheet and display only the data you actually use. In the spreadsheet, open the “HR Best Times Columns” tab and untick the columns you do not need. Your selected layout is saved, so you only need to configure it once.

For example, you can start with just a small number of key ratings and rankings, then add more columns later as you become familiar with the software. This makes the race view much cleaner and considerably easier to navigate.

The User Manual also explains the different sections and columns in detail. If you need help creating a simple starting layout, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

This has game changing potential for stats geeks

    (5) (0)
    • Thanks very much for your feedback Paul. We are delighted to see that HR Best Times is already being described as having game changing potential for stats geeks. That is exactly what we built it for: a deep, data-driven horse racing analysis software that brings together an exceptional depth of performance indicators and proprietary ratings in a structured Excel-style interface.

With more than 170 advanced columns of actionable data, built-in HRBT Ratings, suitability scores for track, distance, going, class and more, plus automatic daily data for UK and Irish racing, HR Best Times gives serious bettors the clarity and analytical power they need to compare runners, identify angles, and build robust methods with complete control. And because such a wealth of information can feel overwhelming to some users, any columns can be freely shown or hidden, allowing everyone to create a clean, personalised workspace tailored to their own approach.

We designed HR Best Times to be a true research bible for horse racing punters, and this early praise from knowledgeable users shows we are on the right path. Thank you again for highlighting its potential for serious statistical analysis. We are excited to keep improving the software and supporting our community.
